My fellow gentlemen; I have a question for you … Are you man enough? Modern group fitness is not the aerobics of old. Class formats have truly toughened up, allowing you to unleash your inner athlete and get ripped through strength, power, plyometrics, and high-intensity training in a group setting.
Instead of merely stepping, sliding, and dancing, you can now jump, lift, and sprint your way to bigger muscles, higher verticals, and six-pack abs. For those who fear female-dominated group fitness classes (trust me, I’ve been there), try challenging yourself with the following formats, courtesy of FORTË.
HIIT & Shadow Boxing: You ever just want to hit something? I mean, c’mon … is there anything more manly than throwing punches? Host your own fight night and box your way to bulging biceps under the tutelage of MMA experts. Each “round” is only 20 minutes.
Firm Body Flow: Upper Body Burn: Your beach muscles can always use some extra love, am I right? Get that upper-half pump you crave in 20 short minutes. Arms, chest, and back, baby.
Training for Warriors: If you’re not familiar with Martin Rooney’s work, all you need to know is the dude is an absolute beast and Training for Warriors (TFW) is his nationally-known brainchild. Spend 60 minutes bouncing between weights and the treadmill for a killer strength-and-cardio combo routine straight from the playbook of the legendary trainer, author, and speaker.
Barbell Blast: Nothing beats moving iron by way of barbell. Pop on a few plates and get after it in this 23-minute, barbell-only program. Note: Despite the name, you don’t need much prior experience under the bar to hop in this one.
Pilates for Men: Don’t knock it ‘till you try it. Oh, and do this one at home. Struggling through a packed class is a good way to bruise your ego, so hit play away from the crowds and have a towel (or 3) handy. Fair warning: Your core will be absolutely crushed post-Pilates.
